Vacancies arise primarily in acute hospitals.
Registration
In Australia, healthcare professionals need to be registered with a professional registration body. Each state has different regulations. This procedure takes several months. Please note: only after having obtained your Australian registration you can apply for a job through our agency. For more information on registration regulations we refer to the individual registration websites (see Links).
VISA requirementsIf you are coming from overseas it is essential that you have a visa to enter and work in Australia. There are two Visas that allow you to take up work. The type of visa will define how long you are entitled to stay in Australia.
Working week and salaries
Healthcare professionals are paid an award wage according to their level of experience. Before commencing at a healthcare facility it is vital you obtain statements of service / reference letters from previous employers proving your experience - this ensures you are paid at the correct rate. Award wages vary from state to state and whether the facility is public or private. Each state has different collective labour agreements resulting in working weeks varying from 38 - 49 hours per week.
Accommodation
Many healthcare facilities throughout Australia offer accommodation on site for very reasonable rates. It is usually very basic nurses quarters accommodation with shared facilities. Many of them do have a pool and tennis court for your leisure. Some facilities offer FREE accommodation, depending on their policy and the contract you undertake.
