England

General information
The English healthcare system is very often regarded as being traditional. However, with its modern advanced techniques, it has many of the best trained specialists within the European healthcare system. As well as cultural differences, working in the United Kingdom means adapting to a greater degree of hierarchy within the healthcare system - more so than in many other European countries. We primarily fill in vacancies for acute hospitals.

Salaries and fringe benefits
On the whole, salaries in England compare favourably with average European salaries. However there is a greater degree of diversity, depending on the particular organisation. Your starting salary will be determined based on your certificates and relevant work experience. Contracts usually vary from one year to longer periods; in specialised positions, shorter contracts might be possible.

Accommodation
Most hospitals offer subsidised accommodation at the hospital site. The accommodation facilities are usually quite basic. Kitchen and bathroom are usually shared with 2-3 other employees from the hospital.

Languages
Reasonable to good knowledge of the English language is required to qualify yourself for a position in England. In order to be well prepared, we advise to study medical English prior to starting employment in England.

Registration
In England, general nurses need to be registered by a nursing registration board. For other health care professions, (Radiographers, Occupational therapists, etc) registration is either required or desired. This procedure takes six to eight weeks during which time we will guide and advise you.

Work and residence permit
England is a member of the European Union. Non-EU citizens require a work and residence permit to be enabled to work in England.
