Channel Islands

General information
Working on the Channel Islands brings you beautiful surroundings, a pleasant climate and long beaches on the coast. The islands have a long history and show many similarities with England, although they are situated for the French coast. The healthcare organisations are experienced in working with staff of many different nationalities, as there has been a historical shortage of suitable local staff. Compared to other European healthcare positions, working on the Channel Islands means adapting to a greater degree of hierarchy. We recruit for vacancies in acute hospitals, nursing homes, community services and mental health hospitals.

Salaries and fringe benefits
On the whole, salaries on the Channel Islands compare favourably with average European salaries, however the costs of living are higher as well. The Board of Health offers a bonus of £ 3,000.- (after two years service). Please note: bonuses are subject to change.

Accommodation
Healthcare organisations always offer accommodation in their Personnel House because the 'housing restrictions' are very strict on the islands. Accommodation usually is subsidized, which makes it even more attractive! The accommodation provides basic facilities, but will be a convenient base to work and live on the islands.

Languages
Reasonable to good knowlege of the English language is required to be elegible for a position on the Channel Islands.

Registration
Registration of your professional training (e.g. as a Nurse, Radiographer, etc) is required to work on the islands. The application procedure takes at least 6-8 weeks.

Work and residence permit
The Channel Islands are not a member of the European Union, however they do follow the EU-directives. Non-EU residents will therefore need to apply for a work and residence permit in order to take up employment. This application will be submitted by the healthcare organisations.
