Recruitment and selection
Vacancies, applicants and recruitment and selection procedures
We begin an extensive search for applicants as soon as we are informed of your vacancy needs. You can inform us of your vacancies either by telephone, in writing or through our website. We locate applicants by advertising in professional magazines, advertising on our website and through our contact network. Many health professionals also apply directly to our organisation from hearing of our services through their friends or colleagues. All applicants receive an initial screening, which enables us to ascertain their professional knowledge, experience and personal wishes. The better we know them, the better we can select a suitable health professional for the position within your healthcare organisation.
As soon as we know which vacancies you have, we select prospective candidates from our personnel database or through our advertising campaigns. After a thorough screening, you will be sent personal details of any suitable candidates. From this information, you can select applicants which may be of interest to you. If you wish to proceed, we will arrange an interview between your healthcare organisation and the health professional. If a working day trial on the specific ward would be appropriate, we will be happy to organise a mutually convenient time. This will enable our applicant to get to know the team and the locality of your healthcare organisation. On occasion, a personal meeting with the applicant at your selected venue is not always practical, especially if the candidate is currently located beyond easy travelling distance. In these cases we will arrange a telephone interview at a mutually convenient time.
After the initial interviews have taken place, we will discuss with you whether you wish to proceed with the relevant application. Further to this, we will contact the health professional to obtain their feedback on the interview, on your behalf. If both parties decide to proceed to the contract stage, we continue to arrange any necessary administrative formalities ranging from the application for registration, the completion of personal details to collecting any necessary documents required for a work and residence permit. As a confirmation of the contract of employment, your healthcare organisation will need to draw up a letter of contract to be sent to the candidate, with a copy to our office for administration purposes. Healthcare workers become direct employees of your organisation. Scholten Medical Recruitment guides and advises the applicant, up until the moment he/she starts working on your behalf. In the unlikely event that any problems may arise after employment commences, we will be happy to mediate, if required.
